Following are the 2012 Operation Objectives identified by the Pastoral Council and approved by Father Jimmy. We welcome feedback from Parishioners directly to the staff or to Pastoral Council members.
OBJECTIVE: Increase communication effectiveness and enhance awareness around the role of the Pastoral Council and how decisions are made within the church.
- Communicate the annual operational objectives to all members of the parish and provide progress updates quarterly. Help parishioners understandhow to provide feedback and insights into decisions and action steps around these operational objectives. Do this by Pastoral Council Members delivering pulpit talks starting in February 2012.
- Enhance communication around stewardship including the role and impact of our ministries. Explore all avenues of communication to do so. Maintain strong communication of information presented at Commission meetings back to everyone serving in each of the ministries.
- Develop a method to communicateprogress on2012 operational objectiveson a quarterly basis to parishioners (i.e. pulpit talk, website, bulletin, quarterly newsletter, all of the above, etc.).
- Explore all methodsof communication including texting services and bulk e-mails.
- Work with the Stewardship Committee and the Director of Communications to put maximum emphasis on the marketing, advertisement and feedback on the work of the ministries as to accomplishments, increased participation. Connect all such efforts to the second pillar of stewardship - Prayer
Who: Pastoral Council, Stewardship Council, Director of Communications, Commission Coordinators and Ministry Coordinators
OBJECTIVE: Totally embrace Stewardship as a Way of Life and implement the pillars of Hospitality, Prayer, Formation and Service with emphasis on the pillar of Prayer.
- Develop strategies for increased participation in Sunday Liturgies in order to reverse downward trend in Mass attendance (October benchmark)
- Develop strategies for increased participation in other sacraments such as reconciliation, weekday masses and novenas.
- Build awareness and develop strategies for increased participation in adoration and consider changes to available hours.
- Consider incorporating the topic of sacraments into Faith formation and adult education curriculums to build awareness and increase participation.
- Consider follow up distributions of brochure on four pillars in bulletin.
- Identify the action areas of the Parish which will be called on to carry out implementation actions (pastoral council, commission and ministry coordinators, parish staff, ad hoc committees, etc.).

OBJECTIVE: Successful implementation the new Neighborhood Net ministry starting the weekend of February 18/19.
- Through parishioners assigned as Coordinators located in every neighborhood, the Neighborhood Net ministry extends St. Joseph-Honey Creek hospitality, evangelization, community life, and pastoral care into the neighborhood of every parishioner. By personally welcoming every new parishioner, inviting everyCatholic familyto a more active participation in our community life at both parish and neighborhood levels, and offering theirpresence and assistance from within each neighborhood, the Coordinators will help our church answer the call of God to live and spread His Word throughout our Texas Hill Country community.
- Execute publicity plan including several mailings to parishioners. Train Coordinators. Ensure all Coordinators complete background investigations and OVASE training. Introduce Neighborhood Net ministry and bless Coordinators at masses on February 18/19. Neighborhood Coordinators begin home visits to welcome new parishioners and present a welcome basket. Coordinators contact each parishioner within their group by April 1 and arrange a neighborhood gathering by the end of May. Provide continued support for Coordinators.
Who: Neighbor Net Ministry Steering Committee, Stewardship Committee, and all Net Coordinators.
OBJECTIVE: Enhance the relationship and interaction between all parishioners, regardless of language, to cultivate One Community at St. Joseph.
- The intent is to educate everyone that we are One Community, regardless of our language. We should welcome each other to events and interact and participate as brothers and sisters. As children of Christ we should love everyone, respecting their customs, ideas and their love of Christ.
- Create an environment where church events represent and include every parishioner. Discontinue saying that an event is sponsored by an English or Spanish ministry. Encourage involvement by all parishioners in all church events regardless of the sponsoring ministry.
Who: Pastoral Council, church staff, Commission and Ministry Coordinators.
OBJECTIVE: Determine the method, execute the funding for the completions of Vision 2020 Phase I and initiate actions to complete the project.
- Schedule and conduct Town Halls for Parishioners to present alternatives - extension of commitments, loan, all donations being taped to provide needed funds, etc. Solicit feedback and support to this approach.
- Propose loan approvals to allow all Phase 1 projects to start in 2012
- Propose a conversion from the specific Phase 1 collection campaign (which ends in March 2012) to funding the remainder of Phase 1 from the regular collection.
- Communicate to the Parish the benefits and progress as related to Phase 1 projects throughout the year.
Who: Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Stewardship Committee, Development & Resources Committee, Phase One Committee and all parishioners.
OBJECTIVE: Social Justice awareness and involvement: To educate, inspire and motivate parishioners to get involved in witness and participation in living the social justice teachings of the Catholic Church.
- To further advance the SSVDP and its ongoing work with the families of the parish and those in need in the surrounding area and to build a Mentor program in connection with the SSVDP to help those families break the cycle of poverty.
- Develop additional communications on Social Justice teachings of the Catholic Church to increase parishioners understanding of this ministry and its many related areas not limited to Pro Life and the responsibility to respond. Absorbing the new roles of mentors and presentation and solicitation for training and implementing the Mentor Program through SSVDP and the parishioners who have volunteered for the Mentoring Program.
OBJECTIVE: Investigate the development of an adult education program within our Parish to offer a program to educate parishioners on the word of God and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- The subject matter of the classes would be determined on the interest of the adult parishioners and the availability of qualified teachers and coordinators.
- Discuss with the Diaconate candidates in training to see if they would be interested in taking on the task and then set up meeting with Director of Faith Formation to discuss timing and feasibility.
