Adult Faith Formation 2018 Fall Offerings
Catholicism Journey around the world and deep into the Faith. For the first time, in breathtaking, high-definition cinematography, the beauty, goodness, and truth of the Catholic Faith are illustrated in a rich, multimedia experience. Journey with acclaimed author, speaker and theologian Bishop Robert Barron to more than fifty locations throughout fifteen countries. Be illuminated by the spiritual and artistic treasures of this global culture that claims more than one billion of the earth’s people.
Divine Mercy Renowned speaker and author Fr. Michael Gaitley tells the dramatic history of God’s love and mercy as interwoven through the transformative message of St. Faustina, the miraculous appearance of Mary at Fatima, the witness of Maximilian Kolbe, and the world-changing papacy of Pope St. John Paul II. Featuring the brilliant cinematic artistry of the Augustine Institute’s film studio, the vast panorama of God’s work of mercy in the world unfolds as a story to be experienced.
Eucharist: Unveiling Scripture and Tradition "The Lamb of God," "The Bread of Life," "The Body and the Blood of Christ"... these are phrases we know from the Mass. But do we understand what they mean in the greater and deeper context of Scripture and Church teaching? Acclaimed author and teacher Dr. Brant Pitre rigorously digs down to the biblical roots of the Eucharist, through its foreshadowing in the miraculous events of the Old Testament, the Gospels, and Apostolic teaching. We'll discover firsthand how Christ's Body and Blood are an integral and wondrous part of God's plan for our salvation.
Hands and Voices Women’s Study Group Come for an evening of reading scripture to develop a greater understanding of who we are in the body of Christ Jesus, and how we function in it. How does the Holy Spirit function in me? What do I need to do? How do I get filled with the Holy Spirit? No books needed. Bibles will be supplied, or you can bring your own.
Pivotal Players Bishop Robert Barron's CATHOLICISM series, an epic ten part documentary, took people around the world and deep into the Catholic Faith. The series aired on PBS and has been seen by millions. But there is still more of the story to tell. Bishop Barron is on a new journey to unlock the truth behind the Catholic Church's most influential people. CATHOLICISM: The Pivotal Players is a multi-part film series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of civilization.
Psalms With Psalms: The School of Prayer, The Great Adventure moves from telling the Story to making it personal. While the historical books of the Bible recount God's creative and redemptive acts in history, the Psalms reveal Israel's response to God's covenant offer and serve as a model for our response to Him. Indeed, one could say that the historical books tell the "outside" of the story of Israel by giving an historical perspective, while the Psalms tell the "inside" story, which comes from the deeply personal perspective of one who is seeking God. Our communication with God is enhanced by a deeper understanding of the book of Psalms and of the individual psalms that reside in each of our hearts.
*Resisting Happiness We all know the things that will make us happy, but we don’t always do them. Why? We’re resistant. With his signature combination of the profound and the practical, New York Times bestselling author Matthew Kelly helps you learn why we sabotage ourselves, feel overwhelmed, set aside our dreams, and lack the courage to simply be ourselves . . . and how to start choosing happiness again. Resisting Happiness will inspire you to break through resistance so you can become thebest-version-of-yourself® and start living with passion and purpose. (*Participants will need to purchase their own book for this book study from a source other than St. Joseph).
Symbolon Too often we try to live a faith we don't know or understand. Some of us stumble along with it, going through the motions. Others simply walk away. Presented by the most trusted and compelling teachers and filmed around the world with stunning cinematography, Symbolon: Knowing the Faith explains the essentials of the Catholic Faith in a way that will inform our minds and inspire our hearts. Presented in ten sessions that are ideal for parish catechism, family instruction, and personal devotion.

Explore deeply Matthew’s account of the Annunciation and Birth of Jesus, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ miracles, and the Passion.
Who Am I to Judge? Discussing moral issues with family and friends can be a challenge in a culture that strongly promotes the idea that there is no objective truth. Speaking from a wealth of personal experience, renowned author and theologian Dr. Edward Sri provides 5 “keys” to enable Christians to oppose with logic and love what Pope Benedict XVI called the “dictatorship of relativism.” He also clarifies the proper understanding of what it means to judge, and the importance of making good judgments.
